Jeff Weinberger
Jeff Weinberger was born in Boston and has played guitar since age twelve. He played in several popular South Shore bands as well as his high school’s jazz band. He started teaching guitar in earnest at eighteen. After deciding in high school to be a professional musician, he attended Berklee College of Music. Schoolmates included Delfeayo Marsalis and Donnie McCaslin. From there, Jeff went on to teach at some of Massachusetts’ and Maine’s finest music stores as well as direct a teen rock band and a summer group guitar class. He has also worked as a recording engineer and producer in Atlanta, GA, and Portland, ME. His live recording work for Bay Chamber Concerts has been broadcast on WBACH and MPBN in Maine.
Jeff has played in several successful bands doing both cover songs and original works. Some of his fondest memories are playing in Archie Bell and the Drells at a juke joint in Columbus, GA, playing in front of thousands at both the Maine Festival and the Deering Oaks Family Festival, opening for Queen Latifah at Bowdoin College as well as major label acts at Zootz, the Tree Cafe and other Portland clubs, and playing surf guitar at his own wedding. His private teachers include Mordy Ferber, Bob Thompson, Gary Hoey and other greats.
He currently teaches twenty six guitar and ukelele students a week and is about to get his Music Education Bachelor’s degree and Maine state teaching certification from UMaine at Augusta, which will take his career trajectory to the next level. Jeff is looking forward to continuing to be a music educator who makes a big difference in the lives of people young and old alike.
